Faculty of Social Sciences offers study programmes within archivistics, library and information science, journalism and media studies, social work, social policy and child welfare, public management and business.

The faculty has about 4200 students and nearly 280 members of staff.

The Department has around 600 students and 40 employees and is located at the OsloMet Pilestredet Campus in Oslo. Multiple programs are offered through the department, including Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral programs in Library and Information Science and a Bachelor’s program in Archivistics and Records Management.

About the position

Department of Archivistics, Library and Information Science has available a tenured position as associate professor in archival science. The position will be related mainly to the Bachelor’s program in archival science, but lecturing and supervising at the department's other programs in library and information science may also be included in the job description.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • lecture and supervise, primarily in the bachelor's program in archival science
  • development of new courses and study programs in collaboration with colleagues
  • contribute to the department’s research and development activities

Qualifications and requirements

  • relevant academic education at doctoral level or equivalent
  • good knowledge of Norwegian and international archival theory and methodology
  • good knowledge of Norwegian public administration and Norwegian archives work
  • experience from the archive field or other relevant activities
  • good oral and written presentation skills in a Scandinavian language and English

Documented pedagogical qualifications and experience will be emphasized and experience of research work within the field is a strength.

Candidates who have no relevant pedagogical qualifications at the time of appointment must commit themselves to complete OsloMet’s programme for basic pedagogical competence (15 ECTS credits) within two years.

The university college will evaluate pedagogical competence in connection with the individual interview.

The salary for the position is in accordance with the pay scale for state employees: 1011 associate professor or 1198 associate professor, NOK 517,700-650,200.

A statutory contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund is deducted from the salary
