Oslo Metropolitan University is Norway's third largest university with almost 22,000 students and over 2,500 employees. We have campuses in central Oslo and at Romerike. OsloMet educates students and conducts research that contributes to the sustainability of the Norwegian welfare state and the metropolitan region.
The Faculty of Technology, Art and Design (TKD) offers higher education and research and development (R&D) activities within technical subjects, arts and design. The Faculty has approximately 2800 students and 240 staff members and is situated at Pilestredet Campus in downtown Oslo and at Kjeller Campus in Akershus.
The Department of Computer Science offers three bachelor’s degree programmes and a master’s degree programme, in addition to research and development activities. The department has approximately 70 staff members and 800 students.
The position
A doctoral fellowship is currently available at the Department of Computer Science at the Faculty of Technology, Art and Design at HiOA. The PhD Fellowship is part of a project collaboration between the research groups Universal Design of Information and Communication Technology (UD-ICT) and Ageing, Health and Welfare. This fellowship is supported by the Booster programme at HiOA which both research groups are part of.
The appointment is for a term of 3 years with the possibility of 25% duties primarily associated with education tasks (4 years total) (teaching,lab, supervision, etc.).
Area of research
The research group Universal Design of Information and Communication Technology (UD-ICT) group is at the forefront of research in the universal design of ICT systems. The group addresses challenges in designing, developing and evaluating ICT systems for all and for specific user groups. The research group Ageing, Health and Welfare addresses the challenges and implications for health and quality of life for older people living in their own homes, people at senior centres, in hospitals and nursing or care homes. The two groups collaborate in interdisciplinary research projects in welfare technology, technology-enhanced health intervention and support for active and independent living.
The successful candidate for this position will be expected to strengthen the collaboration between the two research groups. The project proposal should focus on investigating, developing and evaluating augmented reality based games that will be of importance for and have impact on older peoples' quality of life, physical function and social participation. The candidate will work closely with researchers within the research group in Ageing, Health and Welfare. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to Horizon 2020 proposals in ICT in health programmes.

Successful enrolment into the PhD program in Health Sciences at the Faculty of Health Sciences is required before entering the PhD position.
Remuneration
Salary is set in accordance with the Norwegian State Salary Scale, job code 1017 NOK 432 700-466 100. By law 2% of the salary is deducted as to the Norwegian State Pension Fund.
The appointment of the PhD will be made according to Norwegian guidelines for universities and university colleges and to the general regulations regarding university employees.
