The Faculty of Technology, Art and Design (TKD) offers higher education and research and development (R&D) activities within technical subjects, arts and design. The Faculty has approximately 4.000 students and 400 staff members and is situated at Pilestredet Campus in downtown Oslo and at Kjeller Campus in Viken.

The Department of Computer Science offers three bachelor’s degree programmes, a master’s degree programme, and is part of a cross-departmental PhD program. Academic staff at the department are pursuing research in a wide range of areas including computer science, the natural sciences, and innovation and management. Both students and researchers are also involved in an increasing number of interdisciplinary initiatives across the university.

The Department of Computer Science has a vacancy for a temporary full-time position as Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Interdisciplinary Technology.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Teaching, supervision, assessment and further development of courses at bachelor level, included laboratory-based
  • courses and interdisciplinary courses
  • Coordinating and further developing study programs at bachelor level
  • Further development of international collaboration in educational programs within technology, included European Project Semester
  • Contributing to development of courses and programs within OsloMet’s Life-long learning portfolio
  • Contributing to digitizing existing courses and developing fully digital or hybrid courses
  • Academic-administrative tasks

Qualifications requirements

  • Master’s degree, preferably in technology, design or social sciences
  • Experience and competence in teaching interdisciplinary courses, laboratory-based courses and courses aimed at international student groups
  • Proficiency in oral and written Norwegian, or a Scandinavian language, is required
  • The applicant must document relevant educational theory and practice for higher education.
  • Proficiency in oral and written English is required.

  • Pedagogical skills and teaching experience
  • Didactic skills, and an ability to communicate concepts, theories and knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
  • Language skills that enable precise written and oral communication in Norwegian, or a Scandinavian language, as well as in English
  • Ability to communicate and cooperate with students and colleagues
  • Knowledge of the competence needs of the Norwegian labor market, and an ability to translate these needs into competence goals for the relevant educational programs
  • An interest in building educational programs of high quality, a keenness to develop teaching and supervision skills, and an interest in digital and innovative educational techniques and practices
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, student-active learning
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt teaching and supervision to the needs of OsloMet, The Faculty of Technology, Art and Design, The Department of Computer Science, including interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Competence in digitizing educational programs and in developing hybrid courses. Familiarity with Norwegian technology and engineering education is also an advantage.

The position is remunerated in accordance with the Norwegian State salary scale 51-66, job code 1009 Assistant Professor or code 1198 Associate Professor. The salary is NOK 458 900-597 000 per year, or NOK 535 200-694 400 per year. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants.
