The Faculty of Health Sciences consists of five departments and offers study programmes on all levels, including PhD. The faculty has about 6000 students and nearly 600 members of staff.

Department of Behavioural Sciences har approximately 750 students and 60 employees. The department is represented at all three campus; Kjeller, Pilestredet and Sandvika.

There is a vacancy for a permanent position as professor in social education at the Department of Behavioural Sciences at the Faculty of Health Sciences.

The Department of Behavioural Sciences is an interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary academic community. The department offers two bachelor’s programmes (in social education and psychology), one master’s programme in behavioural sciences, and one PhD programme in behaviour analysis. The department also offers further and continuing education programmes that can be combined with employment. The academic staff work across the programmes. The department’s research is based on matrix management and the academic staff work in lab/research groups regardless of which study programme they are originally affiliated to.

The department is internationally oriented through the academic staff’s extensive networks. The department has exchange agreements based on its research partnerships, and we expect our academic staff to participate in and further develop these partnerships. Several of the department’s lab/research groups are at the research front in behavioural science and behaviour analysis.

The position is mainly related to the Bachelor's Degree Programme in Social Education, but the successful applicant is expected to work also in the other programmes. The person appointed will also help the department to fulfil its strategy on generating research in this specific area for the purpose of developing the content of the programme, retaining skilled employees and ensuring relevance to society. Key areas of research will be the organisation and content of services, competence-building, and ensuring the rights and co-determination of users.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • teaching, supervision and assessment at bachelor’s, master’s and PhD level and in continuing and further education programmes
  • contributing to further developing the academic community and the department’s study programmes with an emphasis on rehabilitation and public health work
  • carrying out own research and development work
  • performing academic administrative tasks
  • actively contributing to the development of high-quality education
  • actively contributing to the development of the Bachelor's Degree Programme in Social Education and the department as a whole
  • disseminating research to both academic communities and society in general
  • participating in the development of major research projects and applications for external funding together with colleagues in the academic community
  • participating in research collaborations with national and international partners

Qualification requirements

  • a PhD in behavioural science, rehabilitation or public health work
  • knowledge of behavioural analysis, and the applicant's own research must be related to social education practice
  • documented research in quality improvement related to pressing challenges in the care services and society at large
  • teaching and supervision experience at university or university college level
  • good digital skills, and experience of digital teaching and development of digital learning resources
  • good oral and written presentation skills in a Scandinavian language and English

The applicant must document relevant educational competence in accordance with the Guidelines for the assessment of educational competence at OsloMet. 

We will emphasise the following:

  • documented research involving participation from users/next of kin
  • documented experience of follow-up research and/or educational research
  • good communication skills and enjoyment of teaching
  • experience of working in lab/research groups and the ability to involve students and colleagues in their own research
  • knowledge and/or experience of developing courses at bachelor’s and master’s degree level
  • an international research network
  • potential for project acquisition

Applicants should be resourceful and autonomous and have a great work capacity. It is also important that the applicant is good at building and maintaining academic networks, and has the ability to communicate and cooperate with students and colleagues.

The salary for the position is in accordance with the Basic Collective Agreement for state employees and OsloMet’s pay policy for position code 1013, Professor, pay grade 75–84, i.e. NOK 708,000– 910,000 per year. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants.
