OsloMet - storbyuniversitetet er Norges tredje største universitet med nesten 22 000 studenter og over 2500 ansatte. Vi har campus i Oslo sentrum og på Romerike. OsloMet leverer forskning og utdanning med høy relevans for arbeidslivet, velferdsstaten og storbyregionen.
Fakultet for lærerutdanning og internasjonale studier (LUI) har ca. 650 ansatte og 7400 studenter, og holder til i Oslo og Viken. Fakultetet består av fire institutter og Nasjonalt senter for flerkulturell opplæring (NAFO). Fakultetet utdanner fremtidens lærere fra barnehage til og med videregående skole, i nært samarbeid med praksisfeltet. Fakultetet tilbyr ph.d. i utdanningsvitenskap for lærerutdanning. I tillegg tilbyr fakultetet utviklingsstudier og utdanning i tegnspråk og tolking. Mangfold er en kjerneverdi for fakultetets virksomhet. Forsknings- og utviklingsarbeidet er profesjonsrettet, praksisnært og internasjonalt orientert.
Institutt for internasjonale studier og tolkeutdanning (IST) har ledende fagmiljøer innen utviklingsstudier, tegnspråktolking og tolking i offentlig sektor, og virksomheten kjennetegnes av utstrakt internasjonalt samarbeid. Instituttet tilbyr bachelorutdanninger i utviklingsstudier, tegnspråk og tolking, samt tolking i offentlig sektor. Instituttet tilbyr masterutdanning i internasjonal utdanning og utvikling, og har ansvar for emner i tegnspråkdidaktikk i grunnskoleutdanningen. I tillegg tilbys en rekke videreutdanningsemner.
The Section for Development Studies at the Department of International Studies and Interpreting, Faculty of Education and International Studies, invites candidates to apply for a doctoral fellowship starting September 1st 2018. The fellowship is for three years. In addition, there might be possibilities to extend the position up to one more year with academic and administrative work at the Section for Development Studies.
Area of research
The theme of this announced PhD fellowship is Political Ecology, Greenmentality and Education. Applicants must submit a research proposal for data collection in northern Tanzania. See additional information here concerning the research proposal. Furthermore, the PhD fellow will be part of the project Greenmentality: A Political Ecology of the Green Economy in the Global South, which is funded by the FRIPRO Toppforsk program from the Research Council of Norway, led by Noragric at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) and with participants from several universities and research institutions in Tanzania, India, the UK and the USA, in addition to NMBU and OsloMet in Norway.
Qualifications
Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of the quality of the research proposal, the academic qualifications of each applicant, research publications if any, and oral communication skills for candidates shortlisted for interviews.
We offer
Salary is set in accordance with the Norwegian State Salary Scale, job code 1017, wage scale 50-54 (NOK 436,900 – 466,500 annually). 2% of the salary is deducted to the State Pension Fund.
The successful candidate will be required to enrol in the PhD programme at the Faculty of Teachers’ Education and International Studies at OsloMet. More information can be found here. Applicants for the PhD position will receive information about the application procedures for admission to this PhD program after they have applied.
In addition, the candidate will be encouraged to fulfil some of the course requirements at suitable PhD courses offered at other universities in Norway and abroad.

Documents 1 – 3 must be in English, while document 4 and 5 might be in a Scandinavian language or English. Interviews
The applications will be assessed by an expert evaluation committee. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews conducted by an internal committee at OsloMet. Interviews will be held in English. For candidates outside the Oslo region, interviews will be conducted via the web (Skype or similar).
